The video for “Still I Rise” from the album Retribution (to be released on September 15th) is finally uploaded. In this song, Brian Fair developed more melodic vocals than the past songs from the band, put together with complex licks and riffing, which demonstrates that Jon and Matt are still fretwork masters.
This song shows a perfect progression from the beginnings of Shadows Fall, through “The War Within” and “Threads of Life” and each one of these produced anthemic songs for us metalheads from all over the world, songs like “Enlightened by the Cold”, “Redemption”, “The Light that Blinds”, “Fury of the Storm” and so on. For me it’s one of the bands that haven’t sold out yet, and I hope it keeps this way.
Never the less, this is a perfect opportunity for Shadows Fall to be more noticeable by “conventional people” and know that the metal will never die, and WE, the underground ranks of true music fans will still be there from now to the end of time, sticking it to poorly developed music and the big fishes that have the NERVE to try to sell that to us.
Go buy this album, because I think it is part of the few out there that are worthy!
